Sloane Ovigele is an emerging singer-songwriter from Portland, Maine. Her songs blend contemporary R&B with dark pop and occasional touches of dance and disco. Sloane's lush, soulful vocals belie her age (she is just finishing high school!), while her lyrics often explore haunting, darker, and atmospheric themes. Sloane admits that her music is perhaps influenced by her love of horror films, Halloween, and Five Nights at Freddy’s.

Sloane has more than 10 years of classical and musical theatre training, as both a mezzo-soprano and alto. She has almost never met a music genre she doesn’t love (though there is one exception that comes to mind—but she isn’t naming names!). Her current favorite artists and influences include Tame Impala, Childish Gambino, SZA, Hannah Bahng, K-pop (all of the groups!), and the Hazbin Hotel soundtrack.

One of Sloane's favorite hobby is harmonizing—blame her many years of singing in choirs and choruses. Her phone is filled with hundreds of voice memos featuring her harmonizing through layering vocals. Another fun fact: Sloane is an avid stargazer and manages to slip a reference to the moon into almost all of her songs.

Sloane’s vocal and musical training includes songwriting instruction through NYU Steinhardt Summer and 317 Main Music School; vocal performance workshops at the Walnut Hill School for the Performing Arts; private voice lessons; and extensive experience in choirs, choruses, piano instruction, and musical theatre productions.

Outside of music, Sloane has pursued creative writing through the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, the UMass Juniper Institute, and The Telling Room. She enjoys hip-hop and contemporary dance and has a background in ballet. She adores the night, Halloween, gold jewelry, and anime. She loves to laugh—including at herself.
